4th Annual Whoopin'

(formerly known as Whoopin' Ass)

Hosted by the Tejas Caballeros, Driftwood Texas

October 19 - 20, 2002

This page updated 22 October, 2002

The big story here was the rain, but we didn't let it stop us this year! The start of the main match was delayed about an hour. The first four stages were shot in drizzle and showers, then the rain stopped for the last four stages after lunch. Straw was spread on the wet ground at the stages, but there was still a lot of mud to be slogged through around and between the stages. Attendance was down due to the rains, but the 65 or so competitors that braved the weather did so with plenty of humor and very little grumbling. The sun came out for the Team Stages on Sunday, but I didn't take any pictures that day. I didn't get a picture of the food tent, but Will Henry, Sam McDermott, and Caprock Kid did a fabulous job keeping us all fed with great grub.

Each main match stage was based on a famous movie whoopin' (Quigley Down Under, Pale Rider, Outlaw Josie Wales, the Cowboys, etc.)
